Linemen Rope Two Awards at Rodeo

Four team members and three apprentices participated in the event in Albany.

did exceptionally well this year with two second place awards in the May 5 Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo in Albany. The team won two awards—the Municipal Division for Journeyman Event A-3 Suspension Bell Change Out 25 KV and the Municipal Division for Division Journeyman.

Winning journeyman team members in the 2012 rodeo include:           

  • Ronny Poston, Journeyman Team Coach
  • Dave Burgess, Journeyman Team Member
  • Greg Sharpton, Journeyman Team Member
  • Scotty Ruff, Journeyman Team Member

Kevin Bishop also served as a Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo judge.

The rodeo teams consisted of three members, two climbers and a ground person; the teams had a coach as well. Climbers had to be a journeyman lineman or meet the qualifications established by the International Lineman’s Rodeo Committee. An apprentice lineman may have no more than three years of experience to compete.
