Grants, Purchases, Discussions on Council's Agenda

The City Council meets Thursday for a work session at 6 p.m. and regular business at 7.

City leaders are set to discuss the recent PT Solutions Duathlon and how it affected residents. Officials received complaints of loud music and road and intersection closures related to the event, but the group hopes to hold future duathlons in the city and use city facilities to do so.

Parks and Recreation officials say they received more positive feedback than complaints and hope to see the duathlon become an annual event at Dellinger Park, but want the council to approve future plans.

Also on the agenda are several purchases, including a mobile air and lighting unit for the fire department. Fire officials say the more than $75,000 unit is needed for certain scenes that require extended operations and would be safer for both firefighters and victims.
