'Devil's Knot' Brings Donation, Tourism Boost

Bartow County Commissioner Clarence Brown adopted a resolution and approved an agreement for the movie production's use of the 1903 Courthouse in Cartersville.

A local nonprofit is set to benefit from the for Devil's Knot at the 1903 Courthouse in Cartersville.

Before fans last night got autographs and snapped photos of the stars, Bartow County Commissioner Clarence Brown at a public meeting Wednesday morning approved an agreement with the movie production for its use of the facility. 

Devil's Knot LLC agreed to make a $2,500 donation to the and a contribution to the American Cancer Society for the use of the county's annex building and parking lot. It also will pay $500 for Bartow's attorneys fees to execute the agreement.

Filming at the historic courthouse is in line with the Cartersville-Bartow Tourism Council's desire to promote Bartow's beauty, culture and rich heritage, according to the related resolution Brown approved.

Brown approved all the other items on his agenda, including a countywide wildfire protection plan.
