LakePoint Details Plans for 5 Villages, Job Applications

The massive Emerson sports complex is set for The Miracle League, LakePoint Church and lake, outdoor adventure and medical research areas.

With a revamped website, LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center has released more details on plans for the Emerson development Commissioner Clarence Brown called "," which developers now say will attract 4 million visitors a year and include 5 million square feet of commercial offerings.

In its new Local Community section, LakePoint encourages its visitors to support Bartow businesses and offers a service to identify and find local establishments. Perhaps more important to the locals—because LakePoint is expected to bring and become one of the largest employers in northwest Georgia—is the website's new Jobs tab.

It says construction jobs related to the more than 1,400-acre mixed-use development with a core 262-acre sports complex will be listed with the and posted on its website as positions become available. LakePoint also offers a word of advice: Check that website regularly.

Those interested in jobs with LakePoint, expected to see its first pitch, kick and shot next year, should keep on the tip of their tounges: "I'm a Bartow resident."

Keeping with its buy local campaign, LakePoint wants to know if candidates are local, and indicates job seekers can get a jump on the pack and send resumes now for positions likely to be available in the future. LakePoint also is signing up volunteers who want to participate in the privately-funded development expected to bring about and 4,000 hotel rooms to and .

5 Villages Round Out 'Ambitious' Project

Developers say five areas will work together to make one of the country's most ambitious projects "the ultimate sports tourism destination." The five villages are:

Sports Village

The "heart of LakePoint," its Sports Village will host more than 17 sports and include 16 major league-sized baseball fields, 14 soccer/lacrosse fields, 14 fast-pitch softball and junior baseball fields, , a Miracle League field, and a 114,00-square-foot indoor facility for gymnastics, wrestling, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading and sports performance training, according to the website.

It also will be home to tenants ; Braveheart Sports, including LB3 Lacrosse and North Atlanta Soccer Association; The Miracle League; Shaw's Sportexe Division; and WakePark Atlanta.

Retail and Entertainment Village

While for LakePoint, its Retail and Entertainment Village will include restaurants, a movie theater, a go-kart track, a bowling alley, a variety of retail "concept" stores, and other amenities for travel teams and their families, the website says.

Medical and Research Village

LakePoints hopes its Medical and Research Village will become the biggest nexus for sports-related research and development in the world.

"With twelve consecutive months of tournament play in 17 different sports, LakePoint presents the perfect opportunity to be a 'living laboratory' for companies engaged in sports performance and training, sports medicine, sports equipment and apparel, and sports nutrition," officials said on the website.

Outdoor Adventure Village

Capitalizing on its more than 1,200 acres, LakePoint's Outdoor Adventure Village will include "the country’s largest cable wake park, a massive ropes course and adventure zip line, and 300 acres of green space with running, mountain biking and equestrian trails," according to the site.

Lake Village

Last but not least, the development's Lake Village is "master planned for a resort hotel and restaurant" on the shoreline of Lake Allatoona.

Spirited, Spiritual Programs in the Works

The latest of LakePoint's partners, The Miracle League, a baseball program for physically and mentally challenged children, is set to move its corporate headquarters from Conyers to Emerson, where it will work to develop new inclusive sports.

At LakePoint, the "safe and spirited program" will host baseball games in which every player plays, hits, gets on base, scores and wins, the website says.

The new LakePoint Church, pastored by 's Frank Bennett, will address the spiritual needs of visitors and local residents, helping LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center "develop the whole person," reported.

While developers will provide its facility, on its website LakePoint Church is recruiting a prayer team, askiing for social media promotion and soliciting financial donations, which should be sent to the .
