DDA: Big Crowds Needed for 11Alive Show in Cartersville

The morning show, which highlights various metro Atlanta communities, is set to be in Cartersville on Aug. 9 from 4:30 to 7 a.m.

Bring your friends and posters and smile for the cameras for 11Alive's morning show in Cartersville, set for Friday, Aug. 9, say Downtown Development Authority reps.

"We want HUNDREDS of people in downtown that morning showing their Cartersville pride!" DDA Manager Tara Currier said in an email.

Highlighting various metro Atlanta communities from May through August, 11Alive’s “This is Home” segment will feature Cartersville beginning at 4:30 a.m. and running through the entire morning news broadcast, which ends at 7 a.m., according to the DDA press release, which reads:

Similar in format to the popular “Today Show,” large crowds are asked to attend the filming armed with smiles, posters promoting Cartersville and lots of energy.

Two of 11Alive morning news anchors will be stationed in downtown Cartersville in front of The Grand Theatre. Crowds will gather around the anchors who will be interviewing members of the audience, as well as introducing a variety of local talent scheduled to appear, including dancers from Cartersville School of Ballet, students from the local schools, members of CLASH soccer, local Girls Scouts and more.

The morning show producer and team are lining up all the entertainment scheduled, but you never know who might be pulled out of the crowd to show off his talent, or asked to share her favorite thing about Cartersville!

Interested individuals might consider dressing in their school colors, making posters in support of their favorite team, local cause, or shop, or coming up with another creative way to show 11Alive viewers all the pride Cartersville has in our community.

Set an extra alarm clock and have plenty of coffee ready to head to the Grand Theatre in downtown Cartersville on Friday, Aug. 9, from 4:30 to 7 a.m. for the 11Alive segment, “This is Home” being filmed live.

The parking lots on Wall Street will be closed for the event, but plenty of parking will be available along Museum Drive, Public Square, Under the Bridge and in Founders Oak Park—across from City Hall.
