County School Board Looks To Update Policy on Filling Unexpired Terms

Bartow County Schools leaders approved the 2013-2014 calendar and a policy on public participation at meetings.

The Bartow County school board is looking to update its policy on filling unexpired terms. The move comes some 9 months after a lawsuit disputing the previous appointment of current District 5 rep Anna Sullivan, who since won an election for the seat.

"What we are simply trying to do with this policy is look at what the law is and make our policy a mirror of what the law is," said Superintendent John Harper said, according The Daily Tribune News.

The board Monday held a first reading of the proposed new policy, which it's expected to consider again next month, along with an amendment aimed at making participating in public meetings easier for parents and community members.
