Council To Discuss Community Garden

Cartersville leaders are set to meet Thursday at 6 p.m. for a work session and 7 p.m. for regular business.

In addition to a rezoning request and a number of contracts and purchases, the at its Thursday meeting is set to discuss a proposed community garden that would serve families, youth and the needy.

Proposed for Old Mill Road green space the city purchased last year, Bartow Community Garden would provide agricultural space for both city and county residents—family plots, a youth garden and a community garden, from which crops would be sold at reduced prices and the excess donated or sold at local markets.

has provided $1,000 in start-up money and organizers say donations from a number of businesses and organizations would get the garden up and running.
