City Council to Eye SPLOST Extension
Cartersville leaders are set to meet Thursday for a work session at 6 p.m. and business at 7 p.m.
Bartow County and its cities, including Cartersville, are working to implement a 1-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax extension that would, if approved by voters, collect an estimated $220,000,000 over 6 years.
At its Thursday meeting, the will consider the agreement between it, Bartow County and several other cities — Adairsville, Emerson, Euharlee, Kingston and White.
The deal would form a to oversee funding and allow the county to , a currently vacant industrial park, with those governments participating.

The SPLOST extension — which officials expect will be on the ballot in November — would provide funding for the following capital outlays:
• Road improvement and construction projects;

• Water distribution and sewage treatment improvements or construction;
• Construction, improvement or renovation of government buildings and facilities;
• A landfill expansion;
• Recreation improvements; and
• A restoration and renovation of the historic courthouse.
