City Schools Nutritional Aide Fired
Mara Harrelson loses her Cartersville job less than two months after being arrested on forgery and drug charges.
The fired a nutritional assistant Monday evening in response to her arrest on forgery and drug charges.
The Cartersville Board of Education voted unanimously to terminate Mara Danielle Harrelson during its Monday meeting, effective immediately.
, 32, of Cotton Bend Drive, Cartersville, the night of June 21 on charges of forgery in the first degree and obtaining or attempting to obtain dangerous drugs by fraud.

Assistant Superintendent Ken Clouse said the charges were not school-related, but the system decided to fire Harrelson for failing to appear at work.
“She had charges brought against her. I do not know the details of those charges, but they were such that she probably shouldn’t be working for us,” Clouse. said “We tried to contact her for several months with no response, and we have got to have someone into that position.”

Superintendent Howard Hinesley described the charges against Harrelson as “serious.”
The school board voted to hire Julia Fran Harris as the new school nutritional assistant, starting Tuesday.
