Mayor, Council, School Board Seats Up for Grabs in November

Qualifying for the 2013 general election in Cartersville begins next week on Aug. 26.

Qualifying for the Nov. 5 general election begins next week in the city of Cartersville, where eight offices are up for grabs in 2013.

Held the first Tuesday in November in odd numbered years, the municipal election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5, and a run-off, if needed, will be Tuesday, Dec. 3, according to the city's website.

Mayor, three council seats and four board of education seats will be on the ballot. The seats and the representatives who currently occupy them are:


Mayor — Matt Santini
Council Ward 1 — Kari Hodge
Council Ward 3 — Louis Tonsmeire Sr.
Council Ward 5 — Mayor Pro Tem Dianne Tate
School Board Ward 1 — Carolyn Johnson
School Board Ward 2 — Ken Topham
School Board Ward 5 — David Apple
School Board Ward 6 — Kelley Dial

Qualifying for the election begins Monday, Aug. 26 at 8:30 a.m. and ends Friday, Aug. 30, at 4:30 p.m. in the City Clerk's Office at City Hall.
