Cartersville Eyes Sunday Package Sales

At its Thursday meeting, the council is set to consider a resolution that would allow voters to decide.

If the and voters decide to allow Sunday package sales of alcohol, it would go into effect Dec. 2.

A resolution to place the measure on the November ballot is on the council's agenda for its Thursday meeting. In an included memo, Assistant City Attorney Keith Lovell said the council wishes to consider allowing stores to sell alcohol on Sundays.

Retailers would be allowed to sell malt beverages, wine and distilled spirits between 12:30 and 11:30 p.m.

The city has already allowed Sunday sales of alcohol in dining establishments, a sharp contrast to Bartow, which does not allow liquor sales or beer and wine sales on Sunday.
