Cartersville Council to Vote on Budget

The fiscal year 2013 budget and an increase to the water and sewer rates are on the council's agenda.

Cartersville Council members are slated to vote tonight on the city's budget for fiscal year 2013, which is $12.6 million lower than fiscal year 2012's budget.

The budget does not include salary increases but will maintain staffing at current levels. The budget also does not include a property tax increase. The proposed budget is included in the attached PDF of the agenda.

The council also is set to vote on a proposed 5 percent increase in water and sewer rates, which officials said is necessary to maintain existing systems, plan for future growth and repay debts.
