Cartersville Council Eyes, Four-Story Buildings, Horse Farm for Overlook Parkway

Councilmen meet Thursday night at 6 for a work session and 7 for regular business at Cartersville City Hall.

The Cartersville City Council is expected tonight to decide on zoning for a horse farm that would locate on Overlook Parkway, east of Interstate 75 at Main Street or exit 288.

Although plans to create several parcels adjacent to Interstate 75 northbound on the more than 33.5 acres stalled after 2006 and 2007, developers have a new plan for the land near Komatsu.

Before subdividing the property and submitting plans for the road, Madison, GA-based Consolidated Holdings Inc. represented by Jeff Royal, and its Overlook Investment Group LLC, proposes to rezone the property from Office-Commercial to General-Commercial "to allow for four-story buildings (no taller than 60 feet)" on the horse farm, according to the application, which is included in the full agenda, above.

A second public hearing on the matter is set for the council's business session tonight at 7. The council also is expected to vote tonight on the rezoning proposal.

It meets in Council Chambers of Cartersville City Hall at 10 N. Public Square.
