Career Expo to Feature 90 Employers, Education and Assistance Organizations

Bring a lot of resumes and be prepared to apply and interview for jobs at Shorter University's fourth-annual Northwest Georgia Career Expo, according to a news release.

The Sept. 20 expo in Rome is set to feature about 90 employers, educational institutions and resource agencies that assist job seekers, including Cartersville organizations, such as Shaw Industries and .

Employers will be hiring or discussing current and future employment opportunities, while other organizations will provide educational and other resources. 

Expo participants are expected to include Abacus/Network Insurers, Amanda Corbin All-State Agency, American General Insurance, Apache Mills, Apex Carriers, Art Institute of Atlanta, Ashford University, Beauti Control, Bob Richards Regional Youth Detention Center, Department of Veterans Affairs-Vets Center, Eagle Rock Distributing Company, Edward Jones Investments, Financial Breeze Benefits, Floyd County Government, Floyd County Prison, Floyd County Schools, Floyd Medical Center, Georgia Department of Corrections, Georgia Northwestern Technical College, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, Georgia Department of Veteran Services, Georgia Highlands College, Georgia Power’s Plant Hammond, Goodwill, H&R Block, Help At Home, Home Instead Senior Care, Hon Company, Honda Precision Parts of Georgia, Job Corps, Kelly Services, Legal Shield, Lowe’s Regional Distribution Center, Lowe’s Home Centers, Mannington Mills, Mary Kay, Mercy Senior Care, National Credit Education Service, Neaton-Rome, News Publishing Company, North Georgia Staffing, Pampered Chef, Proactive Management, Radian Group, Randstad Staffing, Redmond Regional Hospital, Riverwood Retirement Life Community, Rock Tenn, Rome Cleaners, Scentsy Fragrance, Service Master By Twins, Shaw Industries, Sunrise Community of Georgia, , U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, Walden University, Wells Fargo Bank, Willow House and Woodmen of the World.

Job seekers should dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment. They are encouraged to preregister and print a free ticket for the expo, which is set for 9 a.m. to noon, at The Forum, 2 Government Plaza in Rome.

GDOL will provide computers for applicants to use in their job searches and to complete online employment applications. Staffers also will be available to help with resume writing.
