Men Rob, Slap Woman Who Offers Help; Resident Walks in the Nude

A few Cartersville and Bartow County police reports caught our eye, but chronicle alleged crimes and the people involved are assumed innocent until their cases are settled in the courts.

A couple of police reports chronicling alleged criminal incidents in Cartersville and Bartow County in the last day or so caught our eyes at Cartersville Patch. Here are the stories:

Woman Offers Roadside Help, Gets Robbed, Slapped

A Cartersville woman who stopped to help men on the side of the road says she was robbed and slapped by the two who were called "Unc" and "Chris."

The victim, 37, was returning to her Gaines Road home about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and noticed a blue SUV stopped on the shoulder near Spring Place Road, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, attached.

She stopped to ask if the pair needed help and the passenger asked to use her cell phone, but snatched it, "back-handed her in the face" with his left hand and fled in the newer GMC Denali driven by an African-American man in his 40's who was wearing glasses.

After her husband sent the victim's phone a text message indicating it had a tracking system, the woman found her phone, valued at $500, in her mailbox.

She suffered a small scratch on her right cheek bone, but refused medical attention, and described the passenger as a tall, thin Caucasian man in his 20's with a tattoo on his neck and arms.

Man: 'Anyone Who Got To See Me Naked Is Lucky'

A man accused of bearing all at an extended-stay motel apparently passed out, avoiding a late-night arrest, but was nude again when police returned the next day with an arrest warrant.

Authorities were called about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday to Parkway North by residents who said a man was exposing himself to others and had done it before, including in the presence of children, according to the Cartersville Police Department report, attached.

Police say whey they arrived, Gene Lamar Anderson, 53, was wearing unzipped jeans with an unbuckled belt, which he appeared to have just slipped on.

Three witnesses said Anderson was naked while walking outside or standing nude in the open doorway to his room or performing lewd acts directed at other residents in public areas, but he denied the accusations.

"I ain't got much to show, but I am proud of what I got, and anyone who got to see me naked is lucky they got to see my junk, but I was not walking around naked," a reportedly highly intoxicated Anderson allegedly told police.

Anderson, who apparently later passed out, told police other residents "don't like him" because he hates some people and "ain't afraid to let them know it," according to officers.

Police tried to arrest Anderson after speaking to the trio of witnesses, but couldn't get him to the door "more than likely because he was passed out due to heavy intoxication," an officer reported.

They returned to Anderson's room at 8:45 a.m. to serve the warrant, which alleges public indecency. Anderson "answered the door naked and in an obvious intoxicated state," the report says.

He was arrested and jailed on the public indecency charge.
