Troopers Ask for Public's Help After Fatal Crash in Cartersville

A Dalton man was killed Tuesday morning on Interstate 75 near Pleasant Valley Road in Bartow County.

The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team based in Calhoun is asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle and driver in connection with a fatal crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 75 near Pleasant Valley Road in Bartow County, according to a press release.

Troopers are asking for anyone with information on a maroon or purple Ford F-350 flatbed pickup truck with wooden sideboards to contact the GSP office at 706-624-1484.

The crash occurred around 6:35 a.m. in the southbound lanes when a 1990 Jeep Wrangler left the road and struck a tree. It resulted in the death of the driver, Martin Bryan Erwin, 56, of Dalton.

Troopers believe the Ford F-350 was traveling behind the Jeep at the time of the crash and investigators would like to interview the driver. The Ford had an item in the bed of the truck covered by black plastic.
