Tree Traps Driver on Highway 20

Locals chopped the fallen tree to free the motorist following a storm Friday night.

A large tree fell across Highway 20 near Cartersville when a storm moved through the area Friday night.

About 10 p.m., authorities said the highway near the Bartow-Cherokee county line would be backed up for an hour while work crews cleared the debris.

The tree fell about 9 p.m. along Highway 20 near Knox Bridge Road, damaged a truck and trapped a driver, 11Alive reported. The motorist was freed by private citizens who chopped the tree.
