Teen, Juvenile Victims of Early-Morning Gun Burglary

More than $1,200 in firearms were taken from the Cartersville home on Wright Road.

A man who said his brother was in trouble but he didn't want to involve the law assaulted a Cartersville teen during an early-morning incident on Wayne Drive.

The victims, an 18-year-old and juvenile, said they were playing video games about 1 a.m. Thursday when a man knocked on the door.

"My brother is in trouble and I don't want to get the law involved," the man said, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report.

After asking the teen to come outside to talk and inquiring as to when his parents would be home, the man walked to his car and returned with a gun.

The man then came inside the house and pointed what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol at the teen and child, they told police.

"Get on the ground. I don't want to shoot you. I need $500. Get something to break this glass," he said, referring to the gun cabinet. Although the teen offered up a pool stick, the man broke the glass with a drummer's stool.

He left with $2,840 worth of firearms in a garbage bag from the kitchen trash can, the victims told police. The homeowner said he had been at the store.
