Suspected Auto Burglar Arrested After Allegedly Shoving Victim

Darnell Robinson, 37, of Cartersville, was allegedly spotted entering a woman's car and taking her wallet and cell phone.

A woman this morning spotted a man getting out her car with her wallet in his hand, sparking a confrontation, Cartersville police said in a news release.

Authorities say Darnell Robinson, 37, of Cartersville, is suspected in the alleged auto burglary at the corner of Main and Erwin streets about 7:40 this morning.

The alleged victim, who said she left her car unlocked because she was getting equipment from her business, called 911 and after demanding her wallet back. She told police the man shoved her and ran.

An officer responding to the scene of the incident spotted Robinson, who matched a description of the suspect, standing behind an apartment at the Heritage complex, where he was arrested. Police say they found the stolen property—a wallet containing debit and credit cards and an iPhone, collectively valued at $480—inside an abandoned apartment.

"As a result of the arrest, investigators believe Robinson may be a suspect in other similar incidents in the city," police said in the release.

The investigation is ongoing and Robinson is currently being held at the Bartow County jail.
