Storms Devastate Local Residents

Last night's storms and an apparent tornado caused severe damage.

As residents sift through what's left, clean up crews are removing trees and downed power lines. Local emergency crews set up a command center to head those efforts.

The dogs are fine! Scot Huskins said two dogs were trapped and tangled in debris, but the family was able to free them.

Funny thing about that - I didn't even see that dog when I was filming. There was so much debris every where. It's amazing how powerful Mother Nature can be. I believe the roof of the second home in the video ended up across the street. They also had two vehicles that were picked up and moved.

WE HAVE A SUMMER HOME ON CLINE DRIVE, OUR SON AND HIS FAMILY ALSO LIVE YEAR AROUND IN CARTERSVILLE, HE CALLED US AND SAID HE WOULD GO CHECK OUR HOUSE OUT, BUT IN THE MEANTIME, OUR WONDERFUL NEIGHBORS ON BOTH SIDE OF US, CALLED AND TOLD US IT MUST HAVE HIT OUR RESIDENCE THERE BECAUSE A HUGE TREE FELL OVER ON A SMALLER ONE AND THE SMALL ONE FELL ON OUR POWER LINES THAT LEAD TO OUR HOUSE, ALSO OUR 6' WOODEN FENCE AND GATE IS DOWN AND SEVERAL LANDSCAPING TREES ARE GONE, BUT THE NOT SO FUNNY SIDE TO THIS STORY IS, IT BENT UP OUR ELECTRIC METER BOX SO NOW WE HAVE NO ELECTRIC. OUR NEIGHBORS TOLD US IF WE NEEDED ANYTHING AT ALL, THEY WILL HELP OUT AND SAID THEY WERE SO SORRY, I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEM AND OUR SON (THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE IF THEY READ THIS)...BUT THE FIRST THING I THOUGHT OF WAS ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE WITHOUT EVEN A PLACE TO CALL HOME ANYMORE AND IT MADE ME FEEL SO BLESSED, I GUESS I HAVE SOME MIXED FEELINGS BUT MOSTLY BLESSED ANYWAY. MY HEART GOES OUT TO THOSE WHO HAS LOST EVERYTHING. SO SAD...OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH THEM. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME SUBMIT THIS, sincerely, Marilyn and Bobby

HI GMF! Feel free to nominate your son to be a Patch Whiz Kid! I'd love to highlight some kids who've volunteered to help clean up after the storm! Email Brande or I with his name, his school, his recent accomplishment/ good deed, and a few sentences about him and his interests!
