Jack Clark Jr., 60, was being held in the medical center area of the jail when he committed suicide Wednesday about 10 a.m. Clark timed his death based on jail workers scheduling—a nurse made her rounds and returned to find him deceased, Millsap said, according to WRGA Rome.
Clark in 2010 was released from Augusta State Medical Prison, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was housed at the Bartow County jail last month to await a court appearance.
Although the details surrounding his latest incarceration are unclear, Clark had a lengthy rap sheet, which includes incest, aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, distributing obscene material and other convictions in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
He was in prison for nearly 10 years from 1997 to 2007 and more than a year from 2009 to 2010, according to the DOC. Although his latest address was listed as "homeless," according to Sgt. Jonathan Rogers, Clark was previously convicted in Bartow County.
