Bartow County Sheriff's authorities released a photo of the alleged robber.

"On Wednesday November 21, 2012 just after 10PM, the man pictured here entered the lobby of the Hampton Inn, located at 5600 Highway 20 and after walking around for several minutes, came back to the front desk and asked for change for a dollar. The clerk began to change the dollar when the man pulled up his shirt and exposed a pistol threatening to shoot the clerk if she did not give him the money," investigators said in a Facebook post. "The man took cash out of the drawer and fled the hotel on foot. This is currently the best photo we possess, if better photos are made we will release those as well."

A man who asked for change apparently as a ruse brandished a gun, robbing a Cartersville hotel and threatening the clerk, late on the eve of Thanksgiving.

The Hampton Inn clerk, 31, said she was approached just after 10 p.m. by the African-American man wearing a light blue sweatshirt and dark-colored pants, who handed her $1 and asked for change.

When she opened the cash drawer, the robber showed her a black handgun and "told her to give him the drawer or he would blow her [expletive] brains out," according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report. She handed over the drawer, the man took $300 in cash from it and walked out the front door.

Video surveillance shows the man walking from the back of the Highway 20 hotel to the front of the building sometime earlier.
