Police: Man Swipes Purses in Drug Store Parking Lot

Cartersville police have identified and arrested the man whose image was captured on video surveillance footage and distributed last week on the department's Facebook page.

William Woodie, 24, of Euharlee Road in Cartersville, was charged in connection with an alleged Sept. 10 theft at CVS on Joe Frank Harris Parkway, according to Sgt. Pettepher.

The alleged victim notified police the next day that several items had been taken from her car, which was unlocked with the windows down. Among the items taken were a larger purse containing a smaller purse, $74 in cash, the woman's ID and Social Security card, and a carton of cigarettes valued at $35, according to the incident report, above.
