Police: Cartersville Woman Took Over $500,000 from Employer

Jennifer Streetman, 39, has been charged with 15 counts of theft by conversion.

A Cartersville woman is behind bars for allegedly taking over $500,000 from her employer.

Jennifer Streetman, 39, turned herself in on Tuesday to the Cartersville Police Department, and was placed under arrest. She has been charged with 15 counts of theft by conversion and remains at the Bartow County Jail, according to 11 Alive.

Cartersville Police Capt. Mark Camp notes Streetman was employed for 17 years with Telenet Systems as an office manager, according to the news station.

Between June 2012 and February of this year, she allegedly stole roughly $585,000 from the company by reproducing paid invoices and writing checks that listed herself as the payee.

Camp noted she printed 34 checks before the crime caught the attention of her employer, who became aware of the problem when Streetman produced an invoice that had not been paid.

Camp said the total amount Streetman is accused of taking could go higher, and additional charges are forthcoming.
