Andrea Sneiderman Posts Bond, Out Of Jail

Andrea Sneiderman posted bond Thursday morning and has been released from DeKalb County jail.

Channel 2 Action News is reporting that Sneiderman posted the $500,000 bond that Judge Gregory Adams had ordered during .

Sneiderman also was ordered to surrender her passport and her children's passports, as well as wear an electronic ankle bracelet. She was also instructed to live with her parents until her trial.

Police ID Dead Man Found in Peachtree Corners

It's been 10 days since the body of a white male was found behind an office building on Technology Parkway and Gwinnett County police have now released the man's identity.

The Homicide Unit positively identified the man found Monday, Aug. 13, as 39-year-old Ronald Corona from Pennsylvania, said Cpl. Edwin Ritter, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. Ritter said Corona had been temporarily living in the Gwinnett area since November 2011.

Acworth Inmate Died of Natural Causes

Authorities have identified the inmate who was found dead Saturday as 53-year-old Douglas Jay Postell of Acworth.

Acworth police said Postell was in custody from a DUI arrest on Aug. 15 and had a bond set. He was found dead Saturday morning, apparently from natural causes.

Tuberculosis Patient Taken Into Custody on Reckless Conduct Charge

Oconee County deputies have located and arrested a 53-year-old woman on a charge of reckless conduct related to noncompliance with tests and treatment for tuberculosis.

Chief Deputy Lee Weems says  was taken into custody by Sheriff Scott Berry and deputies Wednesday morning at a location in Jackson County.

Details about the arrest weren't immediately available, but Hicks did try to elude capture, Weems explained. She is being held in a medical isolation cell at the , he said.

West Nile Outbreak Could Be Worst in U.S. History

A 55-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man–one from Mableton and the other from Acworth– were the first two cases of West Nile virus confirmed this year in Cobb by Cobb & Douglas Public Health in late July. Both were treated and released in late July.

Now the Centers for Disease Control is calling the 2012 outbreak of West Nile cases possibly the largest in U.S. history. The mosquito-borne disease has been around only 13 years and The New York Times reported that there have been 1,118 cases and 41 deaths from the virus reported to the CDC.

Mosquitoes breed in small collections of stagnant water, are common around people’s homes and often bite people indoors. While few mosquitoes may be noticed outdoors, those that are present and biting are likely to be the type that potentially carry the virus.

K-9 Sniffs out Crack Cocaine During I-85 Traffic Stop

Two South Carolina men are facing drug trafficking charges after an Aug. 18 traffic stop on I-85 northbound near Hamilton Mill resulted in the discovery of approximately 35 grams of suspected cocaine.

According to the police report, a police dog detected the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. After an extensive search, the K-9 handler reached his hand between the trunk liner and the vehicle panel and discovered a clear plastic sandwich bag containing a substance that later field-tested positive for crack cocaine.
