APD Releases Video Connected to Deadly Midtown Shooting 

The Atlanta Police Department released a video on Monday connected with this past weekend’s deadly shooting in Midtown. Atlanta Police Homicide Detectives are asking for assistance from the public in identifying the group of people seen in the attached video. 

Police are investigating the shooting death of Peachtree City’s Morrie Brooks, 24, who was shot as he walked to his car in a Spring St. parking lot behind the Varsity restaurant at approximately 4:20 a.m. on Oct. 6. See Midtown Patch for more on this story.

Kennesaw Police Search Scene of Attempted Abduction 

The Kennesaw Police Department today will return to a wooded area where a man attempted to abduct a 10-year-old girl as she played Saturday night with a friend.

According to a police incident report, a man with a black hoodie, black pants, blue ski mask and yellow gloves grabbed the girl on her left ankle in a wooded area between Sumit Wood Drive and the tennis courts at the Westover subdivision. The girl screamed, broke free and ran toward her friends. But the 6-foot-tall man reappeared and and grabbed the girl's arm, an officer wrote in the report. See Kennesaw Patch for more on this story.

Body Found Buried at Winder Home 

A body believed to be that of a missing Florida man was found buried at a Winder residence. Two brothers were arrested after Winder police unearthed the body of a white male partially covered in concrete Monday afternoon. See Barrow Patch for more on this story.

In a statement dated Oct. 8, the city of Douglasville said that since 2007 there have been 284 instances of a Douglasville elected official being paid for attending a meeting or other public event which did not appear to be consistent with the city's criteria.

Of the 284 instances, 91 of these were identified by the GBI as pertaining to former Mayor Mickey Thompson. That leaves a total of 193 activities to be accounted for. Get the full story on Douglasville Patch.
