Divers Continue Search for Missing Man on Lake - Cumming Patch

Divers from Forsyth County Fire and Hall County Sheriff's Office resumed their search Thursday morning for the 47-year-old boater and fisherman missing on Lake Lanier since Monday night, according to Melissa Cummings, DNR spokesperson.

Cummings said the plan for today included those divers and the continued use of side scans. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office also planned to have their mobile command center back at the site. See Cumming Patch for more on this story.

Acworth Man Faces Charges After Standoff - Acworth Patch

The 23-year-old man who allegedly charged a Cobb County Police officer with a knife Tuesday afternoon and kept neighbors from their homes for close to six hours as law enforcement negotiated with him has been identified as Timothy Przedpelski of Acworth.

Decatur Welcomes Obama - Decatur Patch

About 500 people packed the Decatur Recreation Center gym on Thursday to hear President Barack Obama promote his plan to expand early childhood education.

People lined the streets to watch his motorcade pass by on its way to the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center and hundreds gathered outside the rec center. Gwinnett School Officer 'Serious but Stable' - Suwanee Patch

The wife of injured Gwinnett Schools' resource officer Rolando Jimenez said Thursday that he is in "serious but stable condition" after being injured Wednesday when hit by a motorist at Lanier High in Sugar Hill.

Melissa Jimenez's statement, which was released through a GCPS spokesperson, said the officer underwent surgery to address internal bleeding and to set his jaw, which was broken during the accident.
