Neighbor Holds Alleged Burglar at Gunpoint

Bartow County sheriff's authorities arrested a 24-year-old Armuchee man in the incident at a Cartersville home.

Bartow County sheriff's officials are crediting an alert neighbor for the arrest of a man allegedly caught breaking into a Cartersville home.

Sheriff Clark Millsap said in a press release deputies were dispatched about 6:40 last night to a burglary in progress at the Jones Mill Road residence. They found Corey Biggers, 24, of Armuchee, lying on the ground, held at gunpoint by a neighbor who had called 911.

Authorities say the Good Samaritan and neighbor reported having seen Biggers drive slowly by the home after the homeowners left and back into the driveway, leaving his truck running. The neighbor called the homeowners, who said no one should be at their home, so he confronted Biggers and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived.

Biggers had allegedly removed a bag a coins from the home prior to the confrontation. His truck was impounded and Biggers was arrested and jailed on a burglary charge.
