Chief Terry Harget was directing traffic in front of a middle school when he was hit by a vehicle.

The police chief of Euharlee was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic on Wednesday morning.

According to The Daily News Tribune, Chief Terry Harget was directing traffic on Euharlee Road in front of Woodland Middle School when he was hit by a 2002 Chrysler Concorde.

Harget was transported to Floyd Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, and he was later released. The driver of the vehicle, Alex Rouse, 18, was cited by the Georgia State Patrol for failure to obey an authorized person directing traffic, the newspaper said.
