Man Stabbed in Bartow Motel Room With 2 Children

Three people were arrested in connection with the incident, which also involved the battery of a woman.

A father allegedly stabbed another man in a Bartow Motel room Sunday in the presence of his two children.

Ray Bernard Williams, 48, of Lipscomb Circle in Cartersville, went to the 803 Joe Frank Harris Parkway motel about 12:15 a.m. Sunday to see his children, his wife told police. He allegedly stabbed another man while in the room.

When police arrived about 1:30 a.m., they found Gregory Clifford Parker "covered in blood" lying on the floor just inside the door of Room 110, according to the Cartersville Police Department incident report, above.

Williams' wife screamed, "Ray stabbed him," police reported, and said Williams was drunk. Parker an officer reported.

Parker, who said, "They beat me," was barely able to remain conscious and could not give his name or any other information. He was on the floor immediately next to a small child in a play pen.

A second small child was in a car seat on a table next to the play pen, according to the report. Parker was taken to Cartersville Medical Center and then to Kennestone Hospital after bleeding heavily and for treatment of stab wounds.

Williams' wife said the two men had been outside. When they returned, Williams punched her at least six times in the face, she said, later adding two others were involved in the alleged battery.

The wife said she ran, but saw Williams drive off in her van, and returned to the room, where she tried for 10 to 15 minutes to get Parker to the door. He answered and she found his cell phone behind the TV and called 911.

The woman said Williams' niece, Utephines Deshane Moore, 29, also hit her during the attack, while John Henry Moore, 60, held the wife down on the bed. She suffered at least one large contusion to the right side of her head and several scratches.

The Moore's were staying in Room 115 and entered the wife's room, according to police, who retrieved surveillance video footage of the incident. Each was jailed on a battery charge.

Police found Williams about 5:35 a.m. walking along Highway 41 near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Hilltop Liquor. Police say his clothes were torn and had blood on them.

Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, battery, cruelty to children and and theft, among other crimes.

He told police they could find his wife's van on Anderson Street. Inside the van parked at the end of the street, police say they found a box cutter and a knife.
