Man Robbed, Hit with Bat

The robber got away with nothing in the early-morning incident on Pilgrim Street in Cartersville.

The victim of a violent hold up said he kicked a robber armed with a baseball bat who then ran off empty handed, according to the incident report.

The 55-year-old Pilgrim Street man said that shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday when he was leaving home for work, the assailant ran up behind him, hit him in the head with the bat and demanded money. But the victim stood up and kicked the would-be robber in the nether region, despite having been knocked to the ground.

The suspect got away, but with none of the victim's property. The victim sustained a large laceration to the back of his head and went to for treatment.
