Father: 'I'm Going To Cut Your Ass Up'
A local man Sunday was arrested after allegedly threatening his son with a machete.
John Henry Johnson, 63, of Magnolia Drive in Cartersville, allegedly was highly intoxicated when police responded to the home to a report of threats about 11:30 p.m.
The alleged victim, 42, said he was lying in his bed when Johnson came in and started yelling about him eating all the food in the house, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, attached.
Johnson allegedly left for a short time and returned with "a machete in his hands and started making comments [such as], 'I'm going to cut your ass up.'" A witness said she later spotted Johnson in the hall and living room swinging the big knife.
When police spoke to him, Johnson "was highly intoxicated and was just muttering to himself," according to the report. He was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts under the Family Violence Act.
Man, Asked to Leave, Rams Garage with Truck
An intoxicated man who had been asked to leave is accused of ramming a garage door with his truck after being locked out.
Matthew Storm Scarbrough, 18, of Sassafras Trail in Cartersville, arrived Sunday at his friend's Sugarberry Place home "extremely intoxicated," and after about an hour, they convinced Scarbrough he needed to leave, according to the BCSO report.
The residents about 11:15 p.m. locked out Scarbrough, who then allegedly tried to force the door open, damaging it, and rammed his truck into the garage door, causing "significant" damage.
Scarbrough, who deputies report smelled of alcohol, was arrested a short time later at his home and charged with two counts of criminal trespass and consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Woman Gives Man a Black Eye
A couple caught the attention of Old Rudy York Road residents when the woman reportedly pulled down the man's pants and the man struck the woman, according to the BCSO report.
Deputies were dispatched about 2:30 p.m. and spotted an injured Alex Shane Bowes, 19, of Country Meadow Way in Cartersville, driving toward Gray Drive. He said Tawnee Saraya Braden, 22, of Calhoun, who deputies encountered walking in the area of Gray Drive, had ripped his boxer shorts during an altercation that resulted when the two traveled down Old Rudy York to talk about their relationship.
Braden said she grabbed Bowes to try to keep him in the car, according to authorities, who report both Braden and Bowes smelled of alcohol.
Bowes was arrested and charged with DUI (second offense) and driving while license withdrawn. Braden went to jail on charges of simple battery and criminal trespass, both under the Family Violence Act.
