Intoxicated Man Drinks in Cartersville Jail Parking Lot

He allegedly was intoxicated in a Bartow County Sheriff's Office lobby during apparent visitation hours.

A man who Tuesday was visiting the Cartersville jail found himself locked up for allegedly being intoxicated in the lobby.

A jailer about 5:20 p.m. called deputies to an allegedly drunken man standing at her window during apparent visitation hours, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report above.

Several visitors in the lobby told the jailer Raymond Malcolm Weeks, 57, of Waleska, "was going back and forth to his vehicle drinking something out of a can," the report says.

As Weeks leaned on the counter in the lobby, a deputy asked how he got to the Cartersville jail, to which Weeks responded he drove. According to the deputy, Weeks smelled of alcohol and had "bloodshot, red" eyes.

Weeks allegedly told police he had not been drinking that day, but had "a lot of beers" the night before. On an alcohol breath test, he registered .129, according to the report.
