Inmate Commits Suicide in Cartersville Jail

The man, whose name has not been released, was in the medical ward being treated for mental health problems.

An inmate at the Bartow County jail committed suicide this morning, according to Sheriff Clark Millsap.

The inmate, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, killed himself in his cell shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the press release.

For mental health reasons, he was being held in the medical center area of the jail in Cartersville.

The incident is under further investigation by the Bartow County Sheriff's Office's Criminal Investigations Division.
