For goodness sakes - I've wondered when they would close this place down. Ridiculous. And right near Slopes.

My husband and I just noticed this place a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe there was something like this in cartersville. I knew there'd be something illegal going on there, and I was right!

Jennifer, I was shocked when I was told about the location, then known as Lily Spa. That was when police did a sting a couple years ago. Until today, I didn't know there was still a spa back there. But if you do an online search for it, all kinds of stuff comes up on various message boards. I wasn't sure what some of the abbreviated lingo meant, but I definitely got the references to one of the more common two-letter slang words!

I wish they would expose the CUSTOMERS names! Lots of people would be surprised. I remember when the one on 411 was in operation, it wasnt unusual to ride bye n see DOT Company vehicles, and other well known Businesses Vehicles there.

Don't you just hate it when the police pick on hard working people.
Robert Seidman February 1, 2012 at 01:23 am
Prostitution should be made legal and taxed. Let the police spend their time going after real criminals.
Carol February 1, 2012 at 04:58 pm
Yeah, Robert, let's legalize prostitution and marijuana....Let's turn our society into a real bonafide dumpster!
Robert Seidman February 1, 2012 at 08:45 pm
You sound like a right wing religious nut case.
Bill Thrasher February 2, 2012 at 12:05 am
Robert, Carol didn't come across that way to me...some folks are just not comfortable throwing in the towel on such things and it likely has nothing to do with religious affiliation.

More appealing than the reality, but about the same age, 'Love for Sale':

While we love to get your comments, we have to keep it clean, guys! In addition to profanity, our terms of use disallow any comment that promotes any illegal activities. I've deleted the comments in violation of the policy.
Robert Seidman February 3, 2012 at 01:17 am
I agree with you on the profanity but let's be a little more careful regarding hindering free speech. I replied to Robin Summey's comment and this reply was was removed although it did not contain profanity or promote illegal activities. I merely said that maybe he/she would get a dirty little thrill if the names of the spa's customers were released as was wished for.
Brande Poulnot (Editor) February 3, 2012 at 02:22 am
Robert, my comment was not about any of your comments or those of Robin, so I'm not sure who removed one of your comments, but I can check on it. My comment—about profanity and promoting illegal activities—was in regard to some of Randall's posts, which I removed.

Lest we feel all too self satisfied that such activities are either remote or uncommon, there's this news via HLTV.com & CNN (earlier on Dr. Drew), note that UGA is #2:

The question: Should Georgia officially acknowledge Slavery? The reason for this: to bringRead More reconciliation among the people of this state. Now, how will that help this state achieve higher GPA's? How will that help reduce the jobless in this state? Many of us have said, we're sorry it happened, it was wrong, but NOW is not the time to spend more time/more hours on such a resolution, as AGAIN this is not the first time this has been bought up in the legislation, and before it was certainly intended to be an apology. (See HR 295-2009) but never made it to the floor. If I thought this would bring more jobs, solve the education in this state, help the poor, get all the foreclosed properties sold, then I would jump on the band wagon, but we have some very serious problems that need to be addressed, and the people of Ga. deserve more than this from an elected official. We are responding to the question that was purposed to the readers by The Patch. I do not try to change another mind, its my opinion only, but I do resent someone that openly admits they moved here from Florida, then before that lived in Europe/Cuba tell Georgians how ignorant, and stupid they are. Talking about rude, maybe you would like to apologize for calling other's names. If someone/ANYONE doesn't agree w/me and loves that this Rep has introduced a age old resolution while ignoring revelent and very real problems that exist today, that's fine, that's your perrogotive, but respect other's opinions.
Alex Mason January 22, 2013 at 02:50 pm
Rob, Thanks for sharing the link. I think it is quite well written, and it presented someRead More historical information that I was not familiar with (i.e. Oglethorpe banned slavery in the original colony of Georgia). For me, the key justification for doing this is plainly stated in the resolution: "Whereas, while even the most abject apology cannot right the transgressions, injustices and oppressive acts of the past, the spirit of true repentance can promote reconciliation among all people and avert the repetition of past injustices for future generations." Promote reconciliation. We need to reconcile in our State where there remains a great deal of racism (visible in this thread, although the worst offender's comment has been removed). As I said earlier, I don't know how much good this will do, but it is an easy thing to do and it can't hurt. Sincerely, Alex
