Georgia State Patrol Out In Force This Thanksgiving Weekend

Be prepared to see state troopers on roadways in Cartersville, Bartow County and beyond this holiday weekend.

Buckle up everyone.

'Operation Click It or Ticket,' is Georgia’s high-visibility safety belt enforcement program.

The Thanksgiving holiday period is one of the heaviest-traveled in Georgia each year and this year begins Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. and ends Sunday night, Dec. 1.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, impaired drivers, drivers traveling too fast for conditions, and the lack of safety belt use are the leading contributing factors to fatal crashes.

Georgia State Troopers will be patrolling throughout the holiday period, perhaps you have already seen one or two?

Troopers will be enforcing the state's primary safety belt law that now includes pick-up trucks.

The highest number of traffic deaths ever recorded for the Thanksgiving holiday period was 43 in 1969 and the lowest was four in 1949.
