Allegedly Intoxicated Man Comes to Work, Asks for 'Blunt'

A few Cartersville and Bartow County police reports caught our eye, but chronicle alleged crimes and the people involved are assumed innocent until their cases are settled in the courts.

A few police reports chronicling alleged criminal incidents in Cartersville and Bartow County in the last day or so caught our eyes at Cartersville Patch. Here are the stories:

Man Allegedly Comes to Work Intoxicated, Asks for 'Blunt'

A man who allegedly showed up for work intoxicated and asked a coworker for drugs seemed confused when police came to arrest him, according to the Cartersville Police Department incident report, attached.

The manager of Cartersville's new Bojangles' told police about 5:20 a.m. that Brett Jackson Hyatt, 27, of Kingston, had came to work early Saturday morning and asked the "biscuit baker if they had any weed to share."

An "extremely relaxed" Hyatt, who said he would test positive for marijuana and methamphetamine, also told an officer that he had gone out drinking the previous night and "made a mistake."

Later, on the way to the police station, Hyatt asked why police had come to his place of work in the first place.

"When he was advised someone reported him to be asking to share a marijuana blunt, Mr. Hyatt stated he did no such thing. Maybe. That he remembered doing," the officer wrote. "Then Mr. Hyatt stated, 'Oh. That's right. Okay. Yeah, I get it.'"

Hyatt was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana.

Loud Conversation Leads to Man's Arrest on Drug Charges

Officers on foot patol at a local motel Saturday heard three people having a conversation that led a man's arrest.

Two men and a woman were talking about illegal drugs in a Courtesy Inn room on Highway 411 about 11:30 p.m., according to the CPD report, attached. A toddler was in the room, too.

Police searched the room's resident, Terry Wayne Wilson Sr., 43, an active probationer, and found suspected methamphetamine and a pill in his pockets. After an officer expressed concern the toddler may ingest any illegal substances left behind, Wilson pointed police to suspected marijuana in a drawer and an alleged meth pipe in his jacket pocket, according to the report.

He was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce and possession of drug-related objects.

Woman Says She Chewed Up Some Meth, None Left

Police on foot patrol about 6:45 p.m. Friday at Crown Inn who spotted an open door and knocked say the woman they met displayed signs of meth use.

"The subject invited us into the room, and gave consent to search, stating that she had chewed up some 'meth' earlier and that there was none left," an officer wrote. "As I was speaking to her, a white male, later identified as a Mr. Jason Eldridge, walked into the room."

Jason Monroe Eldridge, 35, of McKay Drive in Cartersville, had an active probation violation warrant and was arrested. Police report they found three Adderall pills, for which he did not have a prescription, in tissue in his fifth pocket.

Eldridge was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II substance and pills not in original container.
