A Cartersville man Saturday went to jail—well past chow time—following an argument over a macaroni dinner.

Authorities were called about 9:15 p.m. to a Wood Circle home in Cartersville where a woman said the two had been arguing about the dinner she had fixed for him, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, above.

The woman told police Christopher Bradley Rigney, 43, had demanded she cook dinner for him, and she prepared macaroni. But Rigney did not approve of the macaroni and threw the food at her, hitting her in the chest, she said.

Rigney said the two had been arguing about dinner and other problems since he had arrived home from work, according to the report. He told police he told the woman to cook him dinner, but "did not like the macaroni so he pushed the plate back onto her when she attempted to give it to him."

A juvenile in the home said Rigney threw the dish of macaroni at the woman, hitting her in the chest with it. Police also saw a shirt with several stains on the front of it, apparently from the macaroni.

An apparently hungry Rigney was arrested, taken to the Bartow County Jail and charged with simple battery under the family violence act.
