Updated: Fatal Crash Closes I-75

The driver of a Ford F-350 was killed on the southbound side, authorities said.

The clean up under way and interstate expected to open back up in a short time, authorities identified Scott Edward Thurmon, 54, of Kennesaw, as the driver killed in the crash. His F-350 pick-up truck hit the left side of the tractor-trailer at the fuel tank, which caused a fire, Wright said.

One person was killed and another injured in a fiery crash that has closed Interstate 75 in Cartersville, spokesman Gory Wright said shortly before 6 p.m.

Troopers are working the crash at mile marker 290, where both a Ford F-350 and the tractor-trailer it hit head on caught fire. Wright said the Ford was northbound, but crossed over, striking the southbound big rig. Β Β

The driver of the F-350 was killed. The tractor-trailer driver sustained burns on his upper body, but is expected to survive.Β 

The interstate remains closed going south.
