Dry Conditions Could Fuel Fires

Officials warn that the current weather could increase the likelihood of fires this afternoon and evening

The National Weather Service is warning those in north and central Georgia that dangerous fire weather conditions are expected this afternoon and evening.

Meteorologists say a dry air mass is traveling over the region due to high pressure over the middle portion of the country. The primary hazard, they say, will be the dangerous fire weather conditions due to low relative humidities and low fuel moisture levels.

Other expected conditions in Bartow County and Cartersville include winds of about 10 mph this afternoon and calm winds tonight. Today’s high will hit about 78 degrees and should drop to nearly 44 tonight.

The temps are expected to cross the 80-degree mark again on Wednesday, with winds expected to be calm throughout the day and evening.
