District Attorney Candidate Throws Hat

Current assistant district attorney Rosemary Greene formally announces a bid for top prosecutor in Bartow and Gordon counties.

Rosemary Greene, a current Cherokee Judicial Circuit assistant district attorney, formally announced today she'll run for the top post in , which covers Bartow and Gordon counties.

Planning to run as a Republican in the July 31 primary, Greene hopes to replace current District Attorney Joe Campbell, who is retiring.

Greene, a graduate, earned an undergraduate degree from LaGrange College and Juris Doctor from Mercer University. She's served in her current post for 11 years.

"Rosemary's passion for the law began at an early age," according to a press release announcing her intention. "As an attorney, Rosemary is continuing a legacy established by her late father and former Assistant District Attorney Gene Greene."

Active in both Gordon and Bartow, Greene is a member of the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, the , and both the Gordon County and Bartow County Bar Associations.

She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of and the State YMCA. In addition, Greene has served on the Board of Trustees of Tranquility House, a local battered women's shelter, and was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.

Rosemary, husband Mark Mathison and their three children, Russell, Charlie and Mary Elizabeth reside in Cartersville, and are members of .

Mathison owns and operates . Greene and he are members of the PTC and volunteer with Cartersville Little League.

"As district attorney, Rosemary Greene will be able to use her skills and years of experience as a prosecutor to further serve the people of Bartow and Gordon counties," the press release says.
