Deliveryman the Victim of $4K Armed Robbery

The Cartersville resident and employee of City Wings said he went to Franklin Drive to make a delivery and stepped on the front porch, but doesn't remember anything after that.

A deliveryman for a local restaurant was robbed, sustaining a bloody head injury and losing his car and other valuables.

Family members Wednesday about 11:40 p.m. found the Cartersville resident walking down the road near his Mac Johnson Road home and his face was covered in blood, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office report, attached.

The employee of City Wings said he had gone to the area of 230 Franklin Drive, off Cassville Road in Cartersville, to make a delivery about 9:30 p.m. He walked onto the porch and talked to a woman who gave the name "Leslie," but said he doesn't remember anything that occurred after.

A short time later, the victim failed to return to work and his boss, who was worried, notified the family.

"[The victim] stated he did not know the female nor did he see who hit him and that the house looked abandoned upon his arrival," the deputy reports. "I did observe a swollen right eye and copious amounts of dried blood on [the victim's] head, face and neck."

Police were called to Cartersville Medical Center after 1 a.m. Thursday, where the victim was receiving treatment. He reported stolen items valued at a total of $3,940, including the a blue 2002 Saturn L100 passenger car.

Some type of weapon, other than a gun, knife and fists, is believed used in the armed robbery, the incident report indicates.
