Cops: Alleged Stalker, State Worker Chose Victim at Random

The Chatsworth man was given a $4,000 bond.

The man accused of a stalking a woman in the Walmart parking lot in Cartersville, flattening her tire so he could then help change it, is a state employee and apparently chose his alleged victim at random, Bartow County authorities say.

Lloyd Bruce King, 54, of Chatsworth, turned himself in Thursday after tips "poured into the sheriff's office" after it released surveillance photos Wednesday. He allegedly flattened the 65-year-old woman's tire Monday while she was shopping and then made sexual comments that made the alleged victim uncomfortable, according to investigators.

King is employed by the Georgia Department of Transportation, according to his Arrest-Booking Report, provided to Patch by the Bartow County Sheriff's Office.

King has "a multi-state criminal history," but no prior arrests in Bartow County, Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said.

"He is not suspected with our agency of prior, similar incidents," Rogers told Patch. "(There is) no connection that we can find between him and the victim and it appears that he merely encountered her in the parking lot as she walked into Walmart.

"(There's) no information that he had been watching her and it does appear that she was a random victim in this case," he said.

King was charged with stalking and criminal trespass, both misdemeanors, and was given a $4,000 bond. He was still in jail this morning.
