Police Offer May Citizens Academy

Participants learn about law enforcement operations with topics such as polygraphs, firearms and simulator training.

is giving the public an opportunity to learn the hows and whys of law enforcement operations.

In May, the agency is set to host a session of its Citizens Police Academy, a four-week program that is free to the public, but in which space is limited.

“Participants will be exposed to traffic crash investigation, criminal investigation, evidence collection, the polygraph, law enforcement firearms and , as well as what it really takes to become a police officer,” Chief Tommy Culpepper said in a press release.

To be held at the West Main Street department from 6 to 8 p.m. one night a week, tentative dates for classes are May 2, 9, 16 and 23.
