Citing Health Reasons, Adairsville Police Chief Resigns

Lieutenant A.E. Gillman has been sworn in as the city's interim police chief.

The city of Adairsville is in the market for a new police chief.

Citing health reasons, Robert Jones resigned on Wednesday from the post, according to The Daily Tribune News.

Jones was named police chief in 2011 after former chief Charles Stafford retired from the position.

Lieutenant A.E. Gillman was sworn in as interim police chief Friday morning, according to the Adairsville Police Department's Facebook page. The Tribune notes the Adairsville City Council considered two candidates for the interim post.

City Manager Pam Madison told the Tribune the city will utilize the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police to assist in their efforts to find a replacement, which should take six to eight weeks.
