UPDATE: Cartersville Police Seek Robber, Attacker

A man broke into an apartment, demanded money, then stabbed the woman living there.

A woman was robbed and assaulted by an unidentified man at the Parkview Apartments on Pine Grove Road early this morning, according to the .

Between 4:30 and 5 a.m., a black man described as 5-foot-3 and 140 pounds entered an apartment, possibly through the back door, then went upstairs and demanded money from the woman.

She attempted to fight off the intruder but suffered knife wounds that are not life-threatening, police said. She was able to make her way to a neighbor's house for help.

It is not yet known if the man and his victim knew each other.

Police are still in the area searching for the attacker. K-9 officers were dispatched, but the dogs lost the scent of the man around Old Mill Road.

The man was last seen wearing either a black T-shirt or black tank top, long blue jean shorts or regular blue jeans, and a blue bandanna. He was using an iPhone as a flashlight and had a shiny silver earring in his right ear. Based on the description of the man given by the victim, police have reason to believe that this man may be involved in similar incidents in the same general area.

The hat pictured was left at a previous crime scene. Police believe that the person involved in today’s home invasion may also be the same man from another home invasion at which the hat was left.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact Cartersville police at 770-382-2526 or the Cartersville-Bartow Crime Stoppers at 770-606-8477.

Oh god. That sounds very similar to what happened to me in March. He had no problem beating the crap out of me and if he now graduated to using a knife ... there's no telling what he will do next time. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim. I'm linking to what happened to me here on the off chance she reads this and would like to talk about it. I'm more than happy to try and help her heal from it: http://cartersville.patch.com/blog_posts/a-lesson-in-safety-for-the-women-of-cartersville-2
