Cartersville Pizza Places Paid with Counterfeit Cash

Fake $20 bills were rendered as payment.

A Cartersville pizza delivery company Saturday received counterfeit money as payment, and it's not the first time it's happened in Cartersville.

Pizza Hut at 122 Merchants Square got an order for pizza about 5:45 p.m., delivered it about 30 minutes later and the driver was paid with two fake $20 bills, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report.

When the driver arrived at 23 Ember Way in Cartersville, he was met in the driveway by a Caucasian man and woman, who had been sitting on the porch. He thought the money the woman gave him "felt weird," but did not confront the pair. Instead, he gave the woman about $3 in change.

A deputy who saw the money noted the bills "were obviously counterfeit due to the color and lack of security marks on the paper," according to the report.

Pizza Hut employees told police they had spoken to Papa John's and Domino's reps and determined fraud had also been committed against those companies at the same address.
