A Woodstock man could be facing charges he allegedly shot a man Sunday afternoon outside a home on Bells Ferry Road in Canton.

Witnesses interviewed at the scene said Jones, who lives in Cartersville, came to the Canton home "with a gun demanding to be paid for a debt that he claimed he was owed," Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said in a news release.

Brian Turner, 43, of Woodstock, who was at the home as a guest, allegedly shot Jones with a shot gun.

Baker said Jones' injuries don't appear to be life threatening, and the weapon he brought to the home was a BB gun. He was treated at Northside Hospital-Cherokee for his injuries.

Detectives received a search warrant to obtain bodily fluids from Turner to see if he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, but the Woodstock man refused to comply with the request.

Baker said Turner was arrested, charged with obstruction and is in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $1,000 bond. The shooting remains under investigation, but Turner has not been charged in the shooting at this time.
