Cartersville Man Arrested in Connection with Human Remains Found in Kingston

He is accused hiding and disposing of Michael Allen McIntyre's body on rural Bartow County farmland.

Bartow County authorities today arrested a Cartersville man in connection with human remains found last week in Kingston, which apparently belong to a local man who had been reported missing.

Sheriff Clark Millsap said in a news release that investigators this morning arrested Jason Daniel Poston at the State Probation Office, in connection with the death of Michael Allen McIntyre, 29, of Cartersville.

McIntyre's family reported him missing May 24 and investigators May 30 found a body they believe to be that of McIntyre on rural farm property in Kingston.

Poston, 30, is accused of hiding and disposing of the body, but authorities believe he had help from at least one other person.

Bartow County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said the second suspect is a man for whom arrest warrants have been issued, but his name is not being released. Authorities are trying to find him.

How McIntyre died and what happened afterward is still a mystery, Rogers said, adding investigators haven't yet received the medical examiner's report, including the cause of death.

Authorities suspect McIntyre died of either a drug overdose or following some type of medical emergency.

"We don't know. It's possible (the suspects) could have panicked," Rogers said. "It could have been they were using drugs, but we haven't been able to confirm that."

Poston faces felony charges of concealing the death of another person and abandonment of a dead body, in addition to a probation violation. He is being held in the Bartow County jail without bond.

The other man wanted in connection with McIntyre's death also will face concealing the death of another person and abandonment of a dead body charges, Rogers said.
