Cartersville Man, Area School Admin Arrested in Alleged Road Rage Incident

He was arrested by Rome police and allegedly had a gun on U.S. 27 in nearby Floyd County.

A Cartersville man and area high school assistant principal was arrested yesterday in an apparent road rage incident that involved a gun.

Jay Johnson has been an assistant principal at nearby Rockmart High School since at least 2008, according to an article in the news archive of The Cedartown Standard.

His Facebook page indicates he studied Educational Leadership and Administration, graduating Jacksonville State University in 2004. It's unclear when he started the Polk County position or if he held previous posts, as no prior jobs are listed his Facebook page or LinkedIn profile.

Johnson was arrested Thursday by Rome police after allegedly pointing a gun at another person, as the two drove separately along U.S. Highway 27, The Fish Wrap reports. Johnson was charged with aggressive driving and aggravated assault.

He hasn't lost his job, yet, according to The Fish Wrap. Polk County Schools Superintendent William Hunter said he'd take appropriate action when more details are known.

Tell us in the comments what you think is the appropriate action for this school system. Should Johnson keep or lose his job?
